HISTORY

PERMANENT FULL-TIME

  • We aim to create compelling utilities applications that will bring about significant and long-lasting positive changes to the environment. One of my current projects involves utilising data science and AI to craft a pollution prevention app that facilitates the UK water industry in detecting and avoiding pollution. As part of my role, I am responsible for designing and wireframing the initial solution using user sessions, interviews, and collaboration sessions. I continuously iterate and improve my designs through weekly scrum and agile sprint sessions, incorporating feedback from user studies, interviews, stakeholder interactions, and research. This eventually leads to the development of high-fidelity designs, prototyping, and transfer to the development team; I am involved in every step of the application’s development, from concept to production.
  • My time at Randgo spanned over six years and it truly became like family to me. I thrived in my role there, finding both the work and challenges to be enjoyable. My focus centered around UI/UX design and constructing various platforms for top-tier clients like Microsoft, EOH, Nedbank, Dimension Data, Absa, TFG, Cell C, DHL, Bidvest, and more. In addition to my specialized responsibilities, I also managed a Junior designer and oversaw designs for mailers, flyers, leaflets, promotional material, and our company CI. As a company that operated in the Rewards, Incentivisation, and staff retention space, the work atmosphere was always positive. I was able to expand my creative reach by developing gamification elements to reward our users.
  • In my capacity as the owner and senior designer at Image House, I had the crucial task of developing our corporate identity and overseeing all design projects at the studio. Additionally, I played an active role as both the lead photographer and assistant in over 20 weddings. My diverse range of responsibilities encompassed graphic and web design, retouching, UX/UI design, production management, 3D rendering, client engagement, and marketing.
  • In my role as a production manager, I held overall responsibility for pre- and post-production stages of all photo shoots and product development. My primary focus was to identify cost-effective strategies for producing high-quality products and minimizing the rate of returns, while also enhancing communication systems. However, the most challenging aspect of the job was the immense pressure and tight deadlines under which I had to retouch a significant volume of photographs.
  • As a Digital Artist, I was responsible for the meticulous retouching of Hi-Res photographs which ultimately adorned breathtaking wall products. My responsibilities included everything from smoothing out wrinkles and cleaning skin to more complex tasks like removing braces or swapping heads. My hard work paid off and I was promoted from junior digital artist at one branch to senior digital artist in charge of overseeing the work of both branches.

FREELANCE / PART-TIME / SIDE HUSSLE

  • Working as VRD Studio’s Senior UX designer as a freelancer has been a world of fun! I work on a great variety of projects including websites, mobile apps, dashboards and applications. I communicate directly with stakeholders, participate in collaboration and wire-framing sessions, conduct user tests and interviews, competitive audits and build fully working prototypes with designs systems and information architecture from conception to hand-over to developers. VRD Studio is fast paced, so adaptability on my side plays a big role as no two projects are alike.
  • In 2017, I created DezignZA with the aim of supplementing my income through freelancing in web and graphic design. Over the years, I have designed 200+ websites primarily on WordPress, crafted 100+ logos, and created diverse materials such as corporate identities, leaflets, brochures, business cards, animations, and more. As a skilled UX designer, I have been able to produce websites that revolve around user experience, leading to higher sales and better engagement for my clients.
  • ExSite exemplifies how I taught myself new skills to secure a freelance job by quickly learning the basics of WordPress. In this effort, I also designed their corporate identity. My work for ExSite consisted of creating an exceptional logo, producing election posters, other political marketing materials, and developing WordPress designs.

EDUCATION

HISTORY

UX / UI SPECIFIC TRAINING

Having switched from Figma to Adobe XD a couple of years ago, I was recently convinced to revisit Figma and found myself pleasantly surprised by the improvements made. In fact, I was so impressed that I have since made Figma my preferred software option.

I have obtained certification as a UX Professional through the UX Design Institute in Dublin by successfully finishing a diploma course accredited by the Glasgow Caledonian University.
